User manual for WaveSurfer is available from http://www.speech.kth.se/wavesurfer/man.html. ButtonPress-3 is Right-click on Windows, and Control+Click on Mac. Right-click on a pane or an icon will provide more options.

Audio control :

This provides a Play & Record function. In the original setting, your audio contorl looks like this . You can add or delete icons by changing icon setting of your Preferences. To modify Preferences, go to File and select Preferences... Click on or off the icons listed in the Misc Tab.

Back to the sound beginning.  
Play space
Play loop F8
Pause space
Stop to play F6
Record  
Close the current file  

Other useful shortcut keys are:

Play selected portion: F3

Play whole: F2

You can change these shortcut keys from Keys tab in the Preferences window.

WaveBar (=View options)

WaveBar shows a waveform of the whole sound. Highlighted area in the WaveBar appeared in the display (Waveform pane, Time axis pane, etc.). You can drag the highlighted bar or click at the other areas in the WaveBar to view a different part of the sound file.
